When I woke up this morning I realized that it was the last day of a very interesting year.  You see for me 2011 has been a year of change and discovery.

2010 was a year of endings. I ended a 25 year career on December 27th and retired.  I was tired of the work I was doing and needed to have something to look forward to that was positive and rewarding. So I just went down and (more…)

Jetpack Man Races with Fighter Jets – Yves Rossi

Jetman Yves Rossi the daring man who flew across the Grand Canyon in a jetpack, races with fighter jets. Rossi joined formation with two L39C Albatros jets over the Swiss Alps. Rossi was flying his latest, carbon fiber, flying  wing jet pack. At 2 Meters the wing is shorter than previous wings which featured a higher aspect ratio. The current wing is a Delta shape in planform, with a wide root chord, and a narrow tip chord (Chord is the distance from the leading edge of the wing to the trailing edge). The new Delta wing also differs from he previous wing  because it is a one piece design while the previous designs featured folding wing tips. Rossi’s jetpack is estimated to be capable of speeds in excess of 125 MPH using four Jetcat Turbine engines. (more…)

Levjet

Jetlev Water Powered Jetpack.

Man has been trying to strap on wings and fly since before Icarus went down in a blaze of glory. We have all seen old news reels of men and women crashing to the ground on ill conceived wings or running around wildly trying to dowse fires after attempting to fly by the seat of their pants. Fortunately we have come a long way since Leonardo DaVinci started designing flying machines. Lately, people are having great success flying with devices strapped onto their backs. Jetpacks, Paramotors, and Birdman suits are helping people get high above the ground. Here are a list of some of the ways that people are successfully flying without an airplane. (more…)

Turbine Powered Batmobile built by Casey Putsch

An Ohio man decided he wanted his own Batmobiles so he built it. “No one has ever made a fully functional, actual turbine powered Batmobile before and I thought it would be fun” said Casey Putsch of Putsch Racing. Putsch took a surplus helicopter turbine engine and rebuilt it as the power source for his home made Batcar. It took Casey Putsch about 5 months to build his Batmobile from scratch. He completed a chassis, stripped down and repaired a jet engine and made all the cosmetic features that make this 1989 Michael Keaton era Batmobile a sight to behold. The Putsch Batmobiles features included an iPad dashboard, onboard turbine ignition system, aviation grade instrument panel and sliding canopy windshield (ejector seats (more…)

My New Computer Desk

I wanted to have a new computer desk for my lair but I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I decided to make my new computer desk because it is one more thing you can make with a cnc router. I wanted a desk that was more functional than the $39 computer cart I had been using.  I looked around at all sorts of desks to find one that met my needs. Since I had two computers that I wanted to work on and have access to at the same time, I knew needed a large desk.  I needed a desk with space for three monitors, a laser printer, a scanner, a 3D printer as well as a microphone and an Ipad. I also wanted some room for shelves, with storage and to make it upgradable as my needs changed.

I designed the extension table in Alibre Design 3D Cad sotfware

It seemed like allot to expect from an inexpensive off the shelf computer desk and in fact it was too much to expect. Well, during my search for a suitable desk I found one company that  has a designed desks which are functional and beautiful. Their product (more…)
